A Local Income Tax Ban has been brought up a few times in the past weeks and I had to think about it a bit. As one of seven council members I would oppose an income tax, local or state-wide. I am confident that a majority of Pasco residents do not want a local income tax. It is better to keep making the case in Pasco and in Olympia that an income tax is not desired by people. Council can include a question to citizens on the semi-annual survey and also hold listening sessions.
Last, Pasco has its challenges sure, but council isn't looking to adopt an income tax. They've done really good the past 20 years lowering property tax rates, are financially sound, and I want to join that group to do my part making sure it keeps doing well.
